Screens, remote work, metro: digital eye strain in Montréal

9 hours of Zoom, 1 hour scrolling on the Orange line, 1 hour of Netflix. No wonder your eyes call it quits. Here's how to give them a real break.

The real culprit isn't (always) blue light

We hear a lot about blue light, but current research actually points at something else: prolonged near focusing combined with a drop in blinking. Your eyes work more, blink less, and dry out faster. That's the real cause of digital fatigue.

The ideal remote-work setup

  • Screen 50-70 cm (20-28 in) from your eyes, top edge at brow level.
  • Indirect light behind you, never facing the screen.
  • Eye breaks every 20 minutes (the 20-20-20 rule).
  • A humidifier in winter to offset indoor heating.

Anti-fatigue lenses: who are they for?

These lenses include a slight boost at the bottom, designed to relieve the eye muscle during close-up reading. We often recommend them starting in your early 30s, or for younger adults who spend more than 6 hours a day on screens.
