• Ages 65 and up: one exam per year, 100% covered.
• People with a visual impairment, subject to RAMQ conditions.
• Recipients of last-resort financial assistance, subject to conditions.
• Emergency optometric services are covered for every insured person.

How do you know what your private plan covers?

1. 1Look for the "Vision care" section in your insurance booklet.
2. 2Check two numbers: the eye exam (often once every 24 months for adults) and eyewear/contacts (usually a 24-month cap).
3. 3Note whether your plan reimburses directly or whether you pay up front and get reimbursed later.
